If an inpatient stay for surgery at the Maingau Clinic of the Red Cross is required, you are usually admitted on the same day of the scheduled procedure or one day in advance if necessary.
The preoperative check-up is usually completed on an outpatient basis (i.e. blood values, x-ray, ecg, etc.). A few days before the procedure you will have an appointment with the your surgeon and the anesthesiologist.
In emergency cases the preoperative check up is performed in the hospital preceding surgery.
Please note the following:
- Present all clinical records available and necessary with a current list of medications and dosages.
- Medication that causes blood thinning also known as anticoagulants (i.e. aspirine, cumarine, clopidogrel, apixaban etc.) may need to be discontinued before an operation or a procedure such as a colonoscopy. Please discuss this with your doctor.
The Klink Maingau offers 1- or 2-bed room which are available according to your insurance status or personal needs. All rooms are equipped with television, radio, telephone and a balcony. Internet access via Wifi is available for an additional fee.Upon request, a 1- or 2-bed room suite can be booked for you and an accompanying person. These rooms are equipped with internet access.
The diet can be chosen in advance depending on your medical condition or other preferences.

On the admission day, please also bring comfortable night clothing, house shoes, towels and a tooth brush.Please do not bring any unnecessary valuables you may not need during your hospital stay.
